About these Pages
Welcome to a work in progress. The intention of this work is to empower, to help make working on the library computers meaningful, easy, and productive, low on confusion and high on creativity, with minimal frustration and maximum enjoyment. Hopefully this can be one step toward development of a systematic computer program.
From the start conscious effort has been made to keep the wording here simple and nontechnical. This is so people wanting to use the computers meaningfully and creatively can get down to doing so without having their enthusiasm dampened by technical terms and explanations. For those wishing to explore further or are interested in more precise and scientific detail will find the world wide web (WWW), itself a creation of computers, full to the brim of information.
Also from the start the door is open to collaboration. Every person comes to these computers with a different background and perspective. Anyone wanting to contribute writing or graphic work, even suggestions, is invited to do so.
About the art and styles
The background for the computer home page was derived from a picture of an MC Escher sculpture at Wikimedia Commons. All other backgrounds are playful fractal design, much of it done on these very computers. (Try this NOVA link for an easier discussion on fractals, or for seeing is believing, check out a little fractal art). Being mathematical phenomenon that also occur in nature, fractal art seems to suit a discussion on computers. All web pages are created by original, hand-coding.
